The Bob and Chris Show picked its top 10 players in the NFL from current Mountain West schools. The list is a collaborative effort and takes in to account what a player has done, how consistent they have been, and their position importance.
1. Bobby Wagner, LB, Utah State/Seahawks – Pro Bowl player, one of the top linebackers, 4 year starter.
2. Brandon Marshall, LB, Nevada/Broncos – 2 year starter for Denver, over 100 tackles in each of those seasons.
3. Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State/Raiders – 2 year starter, 53 td to 25 interceptions, over 3,000 yards passing in each year.
4. Colin Kaepernick, QB, Nevada/49’ers – back to back NFC Championship appearances, in his five seasons over 10,000 yards passing and 1,800 rushing.
5. George Iloka, S, Boise State/Bengals – 3 year starter, anchors a top 10 defense in each of those years.
6. Doug Martin, RB, Boise State/Buccaneers – two 1400 yard seasons and two 400 yard seasons.
7. Ryan Clady, OT, Boise State/Jets – in his prime rated one of the top OL, but injuries have cost him two of the last three seasons.
8. Glover Quin, S, New Mexico/Lions – 7 year starter in NFL, 19 career interceptions
9. Orlando Scandrick, S, Boise State/Cowboys – started in ’13 and ’14, Pro Football Focus rated him an all-pro in ’14, but missed ’15 with an injury.
10. Dwight Lowery, S, San Jose State/Chargers – 16 interceptions, 7 fumble recoveries, and 7 forced fumbles. 3 defensive touchdowns in his career.
