By John Partick-Idaho Sports Talk Producer @JP/KTIK
It started with an innocent mistake. My name was misspelled on the Idaho State Broadcasters Award given to Idaho Sports Talk Saturday night. Instead of John Patrick, my name was engraved John “Partick.” I didn’t even notice it until I posted a picture of the award on Twitter. Comments started rolling in…
I found it to be funny, so I posted some comments of my own.
As it turns out, Partick is the name of an area of Glasgow, Scotland that dates back more than 800 years. It is the namesake of The Partick Thistle F.C. soccer team that was founded in 1876. One of their fans saw my tweet and brought it to the attention of their marketing director who reached out to me.
I decided The Partick Thistle would become my adopted international soccer team.
We exchanged a few direct messages. They play in a 10,000 seat stadium and average about 3,500 fans. I shared some information about Boise and the Bronco football team. She was impressed with Albertsons Stadium and the blue turf.
I look forward to receiving the Partick Thistle F.C. scarf she will be sending this week from Scotland. I guess being known as John Partick isn’t such a bad thing.
