What an unbelieveable run through the post season for the San Francisco Giants to claim their third World Series in five years. Madison Bumgarner was the best player in the post season and he certainly deserved the MVP.
I've never seen a pitcher that dominant throughout a series of games. Both Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling took the ball multiple times in Arizona's win over the Yankees, but I don't think either were so much of a one-man show.
I thought Bumgarner would pitch in relief in game seven. I thought they would bring him in around the fifth, which manager Bruce Bochy did. However I thought he'd go two innings and turn it over to the likes of Romo, Lopez, and Casilla (since they already used Affeldt earlier). But Bochy kept riding the hot left arm and he did it all the way to the title.
The Giants were baseball's best team through June 8, going 42-21. Then they were awful. They lost Cain, Pagan, and Scutaro for the season. Michael Morse and Brandon Belt were injured much of the summer. The right people came together and the Giants got hot. It stared in Pittsburgh in one game playoff with the Pirates, and that night Bumgarner went the distance for San Francisco's first of 12 wins.
My only disappointment was that I couldn't go to a World Series game in San Francisco. I was all set, but the ticket prices were too high. With next year being an "odd" year I am not expecting much. But I am ready for another run in '16.
I watched the parade and would love to be at Opening Day for the festivities of another flag raising. It is great to be a Giant fan-when you can critique your celebrations since you have multiple ones to choose from.
